Domenico Scarlatti · Level 5 (Advanced) · Baroque · Piano

A cheerful, dancing Allegro sonata in 3/4 in G major, with the arpeggios and repeated notes typical of Scarlatti. G major, 3/4, 44 bars (about one minute), complete score.

How to practise it

  • Listen first: the site plays it while the score scrolls.
  • Wait mode: the score waits for you at every note, at your own pace.
  • Tempo challenge: play in time, with a score and a map of the bars you got right.
  • Change fingers on repeated notes to keep them crisp and light. Light, precise touch, loose wrists in the repeated notes and hand crossings. Triplets and other tuplets must be perfectly even: count them aloud with the metronome. For chords, shape the hand in the air before landing, all notes together.
