Ostinato
Note after Note · Level 2 (Beginner) · 20th century · Piano
A minimalist piece in the spirit of Philip Glass or Steve Reich: the same four-note pattern loops round, with just one note changing now and then.

How to practise it
- Listen first: the site plays it while the score scrolls.
- Wait mode: the score waits for you at every note, at your own pace.
- Tempo challenge: play in time, with a score and a map of the bars you got right.
- The challenge is evenness: perfectly equal eighths, like a gentle machine. Play with the metronome. Spot the note that changes every two bars and prepare the new fingering. Left hand: held fifths 5-1; change position during the last eighth.
