Joseph Küffner (1776–1856)
A highly prolific composer from Würzburg, Joseph Küffner left a great many easy guitar pieces, ideal for beginners.
Joseph Küffner was born and died in Würzburg. A violinist by training, he worked as a court musician and in military music, for which he wrote a great deal.
He also wrote abundantly for the guitar: short pieces, airs with variations, duos and methods, often for amateurs. Their simplicity has brought them back into today’s teaching books.
These pieces teach reading, placing a melody over a simple bass, and playing with a partner in duos.
