Sonata in C major K. 165 (L. 52)
Domenico Scarlatti · Level 4 (Intermediate) · Baroque · Piano
A graceful Andante sonata in 3/4 in C major, almost a minuet, with trills and small singing runs. One of the 555 one-movement sonatas Scarlatti wrote for the harpsichord, usually in two repeated halves, brilliant and full of Iberian colour. C major, 3/4, 70 bars (about 2 minutes), complete score.

How to practise it
- Listen first: the site plays it while the score scrolls.
- Wait mode: the score waits for you at every note, at your own pace.
- Tempo challenge: play in time, with a score and a map of the bars you got right.
- The edition’s trills are not written out: play the main notes first, then add them. Light, precise touch, loose wrists in the repeated notes and hand crossings. Triplets and other tuplets must be perfectly even: count them aloud with the metronome. Start hands separately in Wait mode, then put hands together at a slow tempo before speeding up gradually.
