Elementary Studies Op. 176 No. 16
Jean-Baptiste Duvernoy · Level 2 (Beginner) · study · Piano
The right hand plays two voices: a whole note held for the whole bar while the other fingers weave eighth-note figures above it. From Duvernoy’s École primaire (Elementary Studies) Op. 176, twenty-five easy studies often played after the Beyer method. G major, 4/4, 24 bars (about one minute), complete score.

How to practise it
- Listen first: the site plays it while the score scrolls.
- Wait mode: the score waits for you at every note, at your own pace.
- Tempo challenge: play in time, with a score and a map of the bars you got right.
- Hold the long note with the thumb without letting go, and play the eighths with light, independent fingers. One hand sometimes plays two voices: hold the long notes for their full value and let the main line sing louder than the accompaniment. Start hands separately in Wait mode, then put hands together at a slow tempo before speeding up gradually.
