Prelude Op. 28 No. 13 in F-sharp major
Frédéric Chopin · Level 5 (Advanced) · Romantic · Piano
One of the 24 Preludes Op. 28 (1839): a nocturne in miniature, a calm melody over a rippling left-hand accompaniment, then a more intimate middle episode (più lento). F♯ major, 6/4, 38 bars (about 4 minutes), complete score.

How to practise it
- Listen first: the site plays it while the score scrolls.
- Wait mode: the score waits for you at every note, at your own pace.
- Tempo challenge: play in time, with a score and a map of the bars you got right.
- The left hand covers wide stretches: keep the wrist supple and let the pedal join the basses. Six sharps in the key signature: name them before playing. The original grace notes are not in the playable score: add them once you know the notes. Key signature with 6 sharps: name them aloud before playing and spot the places where accidentals cancel them. One hand sometimes plays two voices: hold the long notes for their full value and let the main line sing louder than the accompaniment. Triplets and other tuplets must be perfectly even: count them aloud with the metronome.
