Little rag in C
Note after Note · Level 4 (Intermediate) · study · Guitar, sheet music and tablature
An original rag in standard tuning on the typical guitar ragtime progression (C – A7 – D7 – G7 – C), the “Dr. Ragtime” style Jack Rose loved: alternating thumb basses, a syncopated tune on the treble strings, a detour through F and F minor.

How to practise it
- Listen first: the site plays it while the score scrolls.
- Wait mode: the score waits for you at every note, at your own pace.
- Tempo challenge: play in time, with a score and a map of the bars you got right.
- Keep the open chord shapes (C, A7, D7, G7, F) and add the melody notes with the ring finger or little finger. The thumb alternates two strings per chord (for example strings 5 and 4 for C). Practise the bass alone, then the tune alone, before putting them together.
